Findings relating to Education and Training

Close to 60% of Our Turn to Speak participants reported experiencing some level of stigma or discrimination in accessing education and training during the last 12 months

Of the 200 participants who selected education and training as one of their top three most affected life domains, 46.5% reported ‘frequent’ or ‘very frequent’ experiences of stigma and discrimination in this area.

On average, 49.7% of participants said they had experienced stigma and discrimination in their education and training. 

On average, 59.3% of participants said they anticipated stigma and discrimination in their education and training. 

On average, 70.0% of participants said they had stopped themselves from applying for or participating in education and training because of stigma about mental health issues. 

35.5% said they have had positive experiences in connection with their complex mental health issues when applying for or participating in education and training.
